The Lone SGC 10 Pee Wee Reese Could Be the Nicest One Yet

Jason Simonds of Heritage Auctions recently shared a remarkable consignment featuring four standout SGC-graded cards. Among them: an SGC 10 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan, a 9.5 Nolan Ryan rookie, a 10 Yount rookie—and one of the hobby’s most iconic images, the lone SGC 10 1953 Bowman Color #33 Pee Wee Reese.

Is there a PSA 10? Yes, just one (shared on the blog in May 2024). Mastro sold it back in May 2000, and while it has since been reslabbed, the cert lookup still shows it’s graded a perfect 10. Even so, Mastro’s original listing acknowledged the card was centered slightly high (55/45) with a faint rough cut along the top and bottom edges.

That makes this new SGC 10 all the more interesting. Could it be the single best copy of one of the most beautiful cards ever produced? We’ll find out when it hits the auction block, and we get better scans.

Happy collecting!

P.S. In February 2022, Heritage sold this PSA 9 graded ’53 Bowman Color Reese for $26,533.
